Color Vision Exams in Springfield, VA
Ensure Your Optimal Vision
You may be one of the approximately 300 million people worldwide who suffer from color deficiency. Color deficiency, commonly referred to as color blindness, is the inability to distinguish specific shades of color. Many people refer to color deficiency as color blindness, although full-color blindness is extremely rare. Most people with a color deficiency can see clearly, but cannot see green, red, or blue light. Depending on your age and the severity of your condition, your symptoms may vary. Some don’t even realize they have the condition, while others are impacted daily. Certain professions require exams to ensure your vision is optimal to perform the required duties. If you are in need of a color vision exam in Springfield, VA, Visual Health Doctors of Optometry is here to help.
Causes of Color Deficiency
Many people with a color deficiency acquired the condition genetically, but some people can become color deficient due to diseases like diabetes and multiple sclerosis. Certain medications and the natural aging process may also be factors.
Types of Color Vision Exams
At Visual Health Doctors of Optometry, we offer the following color vision exams to determine whether or not you have a color deficiency, the type, and the severity.
Farnsworth D-15 – In this exam, you are tasked to arrange a set of colored plates in a certain order, as directed by our doctor.
Ishihara Test for Color Vision Deficiency- This test is the most common and detects red/green color deficiency.
